Perinatal Therapy

What is Perinatal Therapy?

Perinatal therapy is a specialized form of psychotherapy aimed at enhancing the emotional and psychological well-being of individuals during the perinatal period, which includes pregnancy, childbirth, and the postpartum phase. This therapeutic approach addresses a range of challenges and mental health issues that may arise during this time, such as postpartum depression, anxiety, and various stresses related to the transition into parenthood. By providing support and coping strategies, perinatal therapy helps individuals navigate their feelings and improve their overall mental health, ultimately fostering healthier family dynamics.

Who benefits from this type of therapy?

Individuals who are experiencing emotional distress related to fertility, pregnancy, postpartum adjustment, pregnancy loss, NICU experiences, adoption, or the transition into parenthood.

Let's start this journey,
together.

How it works?

Assessment and Support Planning: We begin by understanding what this season looks like for you—pregnancy or postpartum symptoms, stressors, sleep, support, relationship dynamics, and any past experiences that may be getting activated.

Nervous System Regulation: You’ll learn practical tools to calm overwhelm, reduce anxiety, and feel more grounded in your body—so your day-to-day feels more manageable.

Emotional Processing and Identity Shifts: We make space for the real emotions that can come with the transition into parenthood—identity changes, grief/loss, birth experiences, guilt, anger, or feeling unlike yourself.

Skills for Intrusive Thoughts and Mood Changes: We build coping strategies for intrusive thoughts, mood swings, irritability, and low motivation—without shame, and at a pace that feels supportive.

Relationship and Support Strengthening: When helpful, we focus on communication, boundaries, and asking for what you need—so you’re not carrying everything alone.

Ongoing Feedback and Adjustment: As you move through pregnancy or postpartum, we adjust the plan based on what’s working, what’s changing, and what support you need next.
