Parent Coaching

Parenting Coaching with Shelly Bergen

Parenting isn’t meant to be done alone, especially when you’re raising a child who thinks, feels, or learns differently.Every child comes with their own unique rhythm, and sometimes that rhythm doesn’t fit neatly into the expectations of school, routines, or social norms. That’s where I come in.With a Master’s in Psychology and over a decade of experience as a secondary teacher, I help parents bridge the gap between understanding and action. Together, we explore what’s really going on beneath the surface of your child’s behavior, their emotions, thought patterns, and sensory needs, and translate that understanding into strategies that work in real life.My approach blends psychological insight, educational expertise, and practical structure to create a plan that feels supportive, not overwhelming. You’ll gain tools to respond calmly in challenging moments, communicate more effectively, and build a home environment where everyone feels seen, heard, and understood.Parent coaching isn’t about fixing your child, it’s about empowering you to lead your family with confidence, connection, and compassion.

How it works?

What happens during a parent coaching session?
During a parent coaching session, you’ll work with Shelly Bergen, M.S., to explore your parenting style, challenges, and goals. Sessions often include discussions about communication, boundaries, and emotional regulation, with practical tools to help you respond calmly and effectively to your child’s behavior.

Is parent coaching right for all types of families?
Yes — parent coaching is designed for parents of children of all ages and family dynamics. Whether you’re navigating toddler tantrums, teen independence, or co-parenting challenges, the goal is to strengthen your connection with your child and bring more peace and confidence into your home.

How long does a typical parent coaching session last?
Most parent coaching sessions last between 50–60 minutes, though the duration can vary depending on your goals and the specific needs of your family.

How many sessions are needed to see progress?
Every family’s journey is unique, but many parents notice positive shifts within 6–10 sessions. Consistency and willingness to apply strategies between sessions often accelerate results.

Can both parents attend coaching sessions together?
Absolutely. When possible, joint sessions can be very beneficial. However, if one parent prefers not to participate, individual sessions can still create meaningful change within the family dynamic.
